2. Eligibility

Open only to legal residents of the United States who are at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of entry. Void outside the United States and where prohibited by law. Employees of Sponsor and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses) and persons living in the same household are not eligible.

3. Sweepstakes Period

The Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 a.m. EDT on May 15, 2026 and ends at July 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Entries received outside this period will be void.

4. How to Enter

A. Automatic Entry with Purchase

During the Sweepstakes Period, eligible individuals who complete a purchase of a qualifying book (THE OPEN (A Novel): The Making of Golf’s First Major) from Sponsor through www.Back9Books.com will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes. Entry is automatic at checkout. No additional action is required.

B. Alternative Method of Entry (AMOE) – NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

To enter without making a purchase, hand print your full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number on a 3" x 5" card and mail it in a properly stamped envelope to:

Mail-in entries must be postmarked no later than July 3, 2026 and received by July 15, 2026. Each valid mail-in entry will be assigned one (1) entry—the same as one book purchase.

 

5. Entry Limit

Strict limit of one (1) entry per person during the Sweepstakes Period, regardless of method of entry. Multiple entries submitted by the same person will be void. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who attempts to obtain more than the stated number of entries.

6. Prize

One (1) winner and one (1) guest will enjoy a round of golf at a prestigious private golf club in the United States. The prize includes green fees, caddie fees, and lunch for both the winner and guest (Approximate Retail Value: $580).

All other expenses, including travel, lodging, ground transportation, gratuities, equipment rental, and any personal expenses, are the sole responsibility of the winner and guest.

The golf club is not a sponsor of, or affiliated with, this sweepstakes. The prize is being privately arranged by the Sponsor. The specific club will be disclosed to the winner only after verification. The golf experience is subject to the club’s rules, guest policies, and availability.

Additional conditions:

• The winner’s guest must be at least 18 years of age.
• The round will be scheduled on a mutually agreeable date, subject to the club’s policies.
• Dates are subject to black-out periods and club availability. Sponsor will make reasonable efforts to schedule the round within 12 months of winner verification.
• If the winner or guest fails to follow the club’s dress code, rules, or conduct requirements, the prize may be forfeited.
• Prize is non-transferable and may not be substituted except by Sponsor in its sole discretion.
• Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the golf experience cannot be fulfilled for any reason.

7. Winner Selection and Odds

Winner will be selected in a random drawing conducted on July 16, 2026, from all eligible entries received. Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received, regardless of entry method.

8. Winner Notification

Winner will be notified via email and/or phone within five (5) days of the drawing. The potential winner must respond within five (5) days of notification. Failure to respond within the required time period may result in forfeiture of the Prize and selection of an alternate winner.

Winner may be required to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release.

9. Taxes

Winner is solely responsible for any federal, state, and local taxes associated with acceptance and use of the Prize. Sponsor may issue IRS Form 1099 if required by law.

10. Release and Limitation of Liability

By participating in the Sweepstakes and/or accepting the Prize, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Pine Ridge Publishing LLC, the private golf club, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives from and against any and all claims, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with:

• Participation in the Sweepstakes
• Acceptance, use, or misuse of the Prize
• Participation in golf or related activities

Entrants acknowledge that golf is a physical activity that involves inherent risks, including but not limited to being struck by golf balls or clubs, slips and falls, equipment-related injuries, weather-related hazards, and other known and unknown risks.

Winner and guest assume all such risks voluntarily.

Sponsor is not responsible for cancellations, delays, weather conditions, course closures, or other circumstances beyond Sponsor’s control.

11. Publicity

Except where prohibited by law, acceptance of the Prize constitutes winner’s consent to Sponsor’s use of winner’s name, likeness, city, and state for promotional purposes without further compensation.

12. Social Media Disclaimer

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any social media platform. By entering, participants release all such platforms from any responsibility related to this Sweepstakes.

13. Privacy

Information submitted with an entry will be used in accordance with Sponsor’s applicable privacy policy.

14. Winner List

To request the name of the winner, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Pine Ridge Publishing LLC at the address listed above within thirty (30) days after the drawing date.

15. General Conditions

Sponsor may cancel, suspend, or modify the Sweepstakes if fraud, technical failures, unauthorized intervention, or other factors beyond Sponsor’s control impair its integrity, administration, security, or proper functioning. In such event, Sponsor reserves the right to select the winner from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to cancellation, suspension, or modification, or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Sponsor. Sponsor’s decisions regarding all matters related to the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to eligibility determinations, winner selection, and prize fulfillment, are final and binding.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

This Sweepstakes shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under or related to this Sweepstakes shall be resolved individually, without resort to class action, and exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania.

Entrants waive any claim for punitive, incidental, or consequential damages and agree that damages, if any, shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs associated with entering the Sweepstakes.
